So many reasons to visit the Swiss Alps even after Summer

There is always a reason to visit the Swiss Alps. Summer and Autumn are both perfect times to enjoy the Swiss Alps!

In Summer you have balmy days of 25-28 degrees, mountains bursting with colour, cows grazing on the high alpine pastures, and 65,000 km of marked trails to enjoy hiking and biking. But there’s also making the most of the crystal-clear mountain lakes, the ancient wineries of the Valais, golf and gastronomy.

In Autumn, you have the stunning spectacle of the changing leaves as they paint the mountains in hues of gold, red, and orange. The crisp, fresh air invigorates your senses as you explore the trails and witness nature's vibrant transformation. The harvest season in the Swiss Alps is equally enchanting, with local markets brimming with freshly picked apples, pears, and other seasonal delights. As the summer crowds thin out, you can relish a quieter ambiance, making it an ideal time for reflection and relaxation amidst the breathtaking alpine scenery.

Whether it's the lively days of summer or the serene beauty of autumn, the Swiss Alps offer an endless array of experiences for every traveler.

However, warmer days are still here so why not enjoy the many joys of the Alps in September.

Take a dip in Switzerland’s ‘Little Canada’

Enjoy the crystalline waters of the peaceful mountain lake at the foot of the Mont Blanc Massif in the pretty village of Champex-Lac in the Valais. The resort offers boating, lakeside walks, swimming, beach volleyball, tennis and mountain biking, but there’s also a botanic garden.

Wine time?

Take a scenic guided walk between vineyards and cellars in the vineyards of the Valais or even let the train take the strain (try the Matterhorn Gotthard Wine Train and enjoy the local food and wines). The Wine Museum in Sierre and Salgesch offers activities for all the family. Breath-taking views from valleys and vineyards are close to Les Agettes, a popular little area to live in Les Mayens de Sion where you can find a charming chalet with lots of potential.

A health kick in Devil’s Valley

Hot mineral springs along the banks of the Borgne make a trip to the Val d'Hérens - often referred to as the devil's valley – make a trip worthwhile. The 80 Springs of Combioulax are rich in sulphates, chlorides, magnesium and sodium, and feed into the pools of the thermal Dixence Resort in the Four Valleys.

Viewing trip in the Valais …

September is an ideal time to take a look at the latest opportunities to invest in the area. Not far from the thermal waters above is the Dent Blanche Resort with new two-bedroom apartments in the hotel-serviced residence from CHF496,000. Alternatively you can take look at the ideal five-bedroom chalet home for a family.

Crans-Montana: tee time or the high life

Shopping, fine-dining , three golf courses – the Omega European Masters  – surfing, bike rides and all sorts of hikes – there are so many options in Crans these days. Head up to the Plaine Morte glacier (there’s a restaurant up there too) for at or down on the lake try, pedalo, stand-up paddleboarding, wakeboarding. Check out these spacious apartments in a tranquil spot on the edge of the forest.

Mad for Gstaad

The slogan of this classy ski village is ‘come up, slow down’ and there’s plenty to do whether you buy into this, or actually love something a little more active. Try river-rafting, SUP, fishing, beach volleyball, hot-air ballooning, trail-running, golf – or even forest bathing (a Japanese inspired form of meditation). Some of the finest properties rarely come up for sale; this more modern yet authentic home is a must-view; whilst this 400-year-old eight-bedroom property is especially unique.

And Andermatt…

This Swiss resort has reinvented itself as a year-round destination with those deep gorges ideal for hiking, via ferrata (it’s famed for three diverse routes) and mountain biking. It’s also been a venue for the Tour de Suisse, the Furka Pass has featured in the film Goldfinger and of course there’s the golf course in Andermatt. New opportunities to invest in the resort include two-bedroom Yara apartments, or apartments at the contemporary styled Val Val.
